Day 1 - SEATEACHER

Hello THAILAND, I’m Desy

I arrived at Syamsuddin Noor airport at 5.00 AM wanted to go to Jakarta and arrived at Soekarno Hatta airport at 6.50 AM. My friends and I used different airlines so when we arrived in 2nd terminal, we had to split up and I went on a trip alone. See you in Bangkok next month guys!


Then, I went to 2nd E terminal and I meet Anna there. Anna is a student of Islamic University Indonesia. We are the representatives exchange student program to SKRU (Songkhla Rajabhat University). Actually, there are five Indonesian students and one Philippines student placed in SKRU, but just the two of us, i.e. Anna and I that had the same departure schedule from Jakarta.
We arrived at Kuala Lumpur airport at 1.15 PM and continued to go to Hat Yai International Airport with all of students which placed in SKRU. We arrived on Sunday at 4.30 PM in Songkhla. The weather was very similar with that of Banjarmasin. The first thing I noticed is the difference in culture as I stepped of the plane. Since the Indonesians is a Muslim country it was very new to me to see a dominantly Buddhism environment. I was exciting to see this. What a new world this will be!

Dr. Polpat, Ajarn Toys and Pak Udin picked us up at the airport to SKRU which took us one hour. We stopped at a dorm for boys, there we have lunch together with Ajarn May and Ajarn Narong, since the servers felt shy about talking to us because we were foreigners and needed to be talked to in English. I got my first taste of Thailand food! It was called "Nasi Lemak" or "Nasi Minyak". The flavors weren’t so foreign to me since the food in the Indonesian used the same ingredients. So far so good in the food department!

We were immediately brought to our dorms. The place is the best one of a new dormitory in SKRU. I and Anna staying in a room together and Laras and Ulfa staying in other room together too. After this, Nadia an Dami Ya took us around campus a bit and helped us by our Thailand sim cards. They also pointed out where the convenience stores were. After this we went back to our dorms and unpacked. Then during the night we decided to go to the convenience store to buy somefood. After buying our food we went back to dorm and take a rest.

Sampeng Market February 11 (Sund ay ) Sampeng Market at China Town Grab taxi and Uber From the hostel, if you have some friends for more economical if you want to travel using the grab or uber rather than train (MRT). If the train rides from lumphini we need 42 THB to caktucak market, then with a grab or uber taxi we need biata around 120 THB for 4 people. Whereas for the Sampeng market need only 60-80 THB for 4 people (I am not recommend to board the train, ribet). If you want to shopping some Thai gifts, I recommend to Caktucak market. There the price of clothes (t-shirt) range between 90-150 THB per sheet. While the key chain 15-20 THB per piece. If you want to buy some clothes, accessories, key chains (not the typical Thailand) it would be nice to go to Sampeng Market. This market is like heaven shopping lovers, all merchandise on the market sampeng relatively cheaper. I bought a leather bag for my mom in the

Chalatat Beach, Songkhla February 5 (Sunday) E vening walk on the Chalatat beach There is no special agenda today, Ajarn Narong cancel our schedule  to go to Hat Yai city because he has classes from morning to afternoon. But we will reorder our vacation schedules in the fourth weekend, last weekend. Ajarn narong is very good, he meet us at Parichat dorm to discuss our schedule to Hat Yai tomorrow. And the decision we take is to go to Hat Yai tomorrow afternoon and we will walk to the beach this evening with Ajarn Narong. The beach which we will go is the Chalatat Beach. We've never been to it, it will surely be fun. Before arriving at the beach, we decided to get off at the roadside market to buy some food to eat while on the beach later and walk to the beach. Songkhla city streets getting crowded afternoon around the beach on Sundays, there's an awful lot of food from snacks to a heavy meal. Super big Crapes

Cat and Rat, Bye Samila Beach! February 10 ( Fri day ) Good morning and Good night Samila Beach Ajarn Toys and Ajarn Narong Early morning, the Mrs. Tatik already busy preparing breakfast for us, while we breakfast she goes to Danar school. It turns out that this woman's career, life in any country it is. But she is a great woman, Mrs. Tatik doing everything by her self without housekeepers as much we encounter in Indonesian. Ha ha ha After dropping off Danar to school, she went to the campus to teach. We also are ready to go back to the dorm, but before departing she didn't forget wrap all foods that could be wrapped and taken to our stock in the dorm. On the way we are afraid of troublesome Mrs. Tatik, so we asked her to drop us at the waterfront because it would like to play for a bit. Mrs. Tatik reluctantly dropped us off.
